Afghan appeal

We would like to thank everyone – individuals and organisations – for their generous support to our Afghan appeal. We have now raised over £6,000. We are hoping to resettle a family in Bude but so far we have been unable to find suitable housing. If you know of anyone willing to rent a house to an Afghan family please contact Mary Whibley (number below). Should we be unable to resettle a family in Bude, BRSG trustees plan to use all money raised to directly benefit Afghan refugee families living in Cornwall in ways which will help their resettlement.

We are very proud to announce that Bude Refugee Support Group won  ‘Community Sponsorship Group of the Year 2019’ for our work in being a pioneering group, and being the first group in the UK to sponsor a second family. 

BRSG members continue to support the two refugee families now living here. Bude has proven to be a friendly, warm and hospitable  sanctuary for the families, and we would like to thank all our supporters in Bude, Cornwall, and beyond who have made this Community Sponsorship possible. Bude was the first town in Cornwall to sponsor refugees under the Home Office scheme.
